A small place, but the fresh seafood we bought to cook at our condo was wonderful. And priced well too. It is not on the main road, but well worth the trip. It is located right on the water, we even took a family picture there on the docks. Great local seafood and very fresh. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable too! Will be returning here our next trip

Great find! We were staying at the local campground in Hilton Head and wanted to cook some fresh fish. We went to this fish market , which is 5 minutes away,, and bought some fresh local snapper and crab cakes. Delish! When you walk in, it has the best fresh fish smell.

We come to Hilton Head every October to play golf and sit on the beach. Our trip always includes a trip to Hudson's for shrimp. This year we went twice and were not disappointed. At $13.50 per pound for local 26-30 shrimp you can't go wrong!

A little off the beaten path, but definitely worth it for locally caught seafood. We aren't locals, but have been coming down to Hilton Head every year, and this year I was determined to cook some Lowcountry specialities while down here. I wasn't convinced I would find locally caught shrimp and fish at Publix or Fresh Market, and the only other place I saw was "Barnacle Bill's" on the main strip. I had to literally go find Benny Hudson's...both in terms of finding out about its existence and then physically finding it. Set back a little bit down a lot from the road, Benny Hudson's is a little shack along the water on the north end of the island. When you walk in, it's nothing more than a counter of ice with fish filets, tubs of shelled crab meat and oysters, some shellfish and shrimp flanked by two shelves stocked with some cooking ingredients/spices and cook books. I got the sense there may be more if you called in advance, as several people seemed to do that while we were being served. It is immaculately clean and the single staff member working there was very friendly and helpful. I got my pound of large locally caught shrimp for shrimp and grits for $10.99/pound and I was told by my diners that they were very good. I forgot a shrimp peeler and Benny Hudson's were out (though if I had pre-ordered, they would have peeled them for an additional $2/pound), so I ended up having to go to Fresh Market anyway to get one for a dollar, but I was more confident that I had the real deal in terms of fresh Carolina shrimp by going to Benny Hudson's and will definitely go back for my seafood needs.

This is one of the only places on the island where you can get fresh, local seafood that is both sustainable and delicious (they take part in the South Carolina initiative for sustainable seafood). In the past four days I've gotten the trout (local), the salmon (flown in from Scotland), the scallops (local) and today we're going to get the shrimp (local). Everything has been fresh and amazing. Well worth a trip..or several.

This place is a small hole in a wall but they serve real fresh caught seafood. its hard to find this place. Without knowing a local we would have not known. We bought jumbo shrimp and some mussels and they were so good. They are cheaper than what you get at the grocery stores (I think). I would definitely be back here when im in Hilton Head and want some good seafood. Their selection varies depending on what the catches are for the day
